Healing Through Resistance
The Healing We Avoid Is Often the Healing We Most Need

There’s a kind of healing that doesn’t arrive softly.
It doesn’t feel like light pouring in or instant peace.
It arrives as discomfort.
Resistance.
Tightness in the chest.
A quiet whisper inside that says,
“Not this. Not now. Not again.”
And yet, that resistance…
It often marks the doorway to our deepest liberation
Why We Resist?
We don’t resist healing because we’re lazy or unaware.
We resist because we’re wise.
Because something in us is trying to protect what once kept us safe.
For some, it’s anger that gets pushed down.
For others, it’s grief that never got the space to be felt.
And for many, it’s even joy because joy once felt too dangerous to trust.
When we’ve experienced trauma, loss, abandonment, or betrayal,
our nervous system learns to associate certain emotions with danger.
So we avoid them out of self-preservation.
But over time, the same protection becomes the prison.

My Own Avoidance
For years, I avoided my anger. I thought it made me less spiritual. That if I was angry, I wasn’t evolved enough.
So I smiled. I forgave. I stayed silent.
But what I didn’t realize was that my anger wasn’t the enemy.
It was a protector.
It was saying:
“Something sacred has been crossed.”
And when I finally turned toward it not with judgment, but with compassion
I discovered clarity. Power.
And truth that had been silenced for years.
Turning Toward What You Avoid
What we avoid holds medicine.
And healing doesn’t mean forcing yourself to feel everything all at once.
It means creating a safe space where nothing has to be pushed away.
If there’s a part of you you’ve been resisting a memory, a feeling, a truth
you don’t have to rush.
You don’t have to fix it.
You just have to stay.
A Simple Practice
The next time resistance arises, try this:
- Place your hand on the part of your body where you feel it
- Breathe gently into it
- Whisper to it: “I see you. I’m not here to fix you. I’m just here to stay.”
That is healing.
That is love.
That is your return.

You Don’t Have to Do It Alone
The healing we avoid is often the exact doorway we need to walk through.
But you don’t have to do it alone.
In my Return to Self Method sessions, we gently and safely explore what’s ready to be witnessed with deep compassion, trauma-informed care, and intuitive energy work.
If you feel ready to stop running and start returning, I’m here.
Ready to Heal?
If this speaks to something inside you, I invite you to begin.
Sessions are available online or in person, and each one is a sacred space created just for you.
